Tight kitchens are hard to design and work with. We all know storage is hard to come by, even in large kitchens. Here are a few tips to utilize your whole kitchen and keep it feeling open.
If you are remodeling your kitchen from scratch, consider extending your cabinetry upward, building close to, or completely up to the ceiling. The taller, less accessible cabinet spaces are a great use for “formal” dishes, fancy wine glasses, or even a decorative area.
Keep it light and bright
When picking colors, try to keep in the range of very light colors or shades, to white. Dark colors can turn any space, especially small spaces, into caves. This includes counter-tops and back splashes.
Creative storage techniques
Adding hooks, racks, or tiny shelves in the inside of your cabinet doors can almost double your storage capacity by utilizing all the vertical space. This is great for spices, mugs and towels.
Glass and mirrors
Create openings or reflections to give the illusion of more space. Adding mirror inserts with glass door cabinets can extremely open up a space.
